Term 4, Weeks 3 & 4
Dear parents,
It is hard to believe that there is only
seven weeks to go until the children finish Year Two!
Year 2 Cultural Excursion – Meelup – tomorrow
Please send your child to school in
their sport uniform for our cultural excursion to Meelup.
We will leave by bus at 9:15am and return to school at approx. 12:00pm.
School Photos – Thursday, 26 October
School photos will be taken on Thursday
26 October. Photo information was sent home last week for ordering. The Year 2
students are expected to wear their formal school uniforms on photo day.
Grandparents Day – Friday, 3 November
(week 4)
This will be celebrated on Friday the
3rd of November so please make sure that your child has taken the time to
invite their grandparents along if possible. Grandparents are invited to gather
in the hall for a 9am start assembly.
At 9:30am, grandparents are invited to
visit the classrooms of their grandchildren where we will show them some of our
fantastic work that we have completed over the term (similar to learning
journeys).
We will then all gather in the
undercover area for a shared morning tea with their grandchildren from 10:40am.

Homework
Below are our Fluency grids, spelling lists and
focus sounds for weeks 3 and 4.
Learning Intentions
English:
This week we are learning the sound
'ge' as in cage, 'dge' as in bridge and suffixes. This fortnight’s tricky
words are: though, around, interesting & shouldn't.
We have been reviewing what a narrative text is and
the purpose of a narrative text:
- ·
entertain the reader
- ·
sometimes teach a life lesson
We have reading and discussing our shortened mentor text ‘Tiddler the Story Telling Fish’. We have been reconstructing the mentor text (orientation, build up, complication, climax, resolution & ending) and brainstorming ideas that can be used when creating their own version of the mentor text.
Please see below our class mentor text which demonstrates what the children should be consolidating and extending on since this was taught in Term One and is a revision.
