Mid-week Sneak Peek
Dear parents
We have had a busy day. Today we started a new Recount, with
our class having the staring roll.
After a class discussion, we decided to put on a cloak of invisibility
and spy on our Year 6 buddies!
First, we put on our cloak of invisibility and went into spy
mode to sneak from wall to wall so no-one would find us. Once we made it safely
without being seen, we put on our spy glasses and looked into the Year 6
classroom. We saw that they were working hard.
Next, we went to the adventure playground and used our spy glasses
to watch the Year 2 sport lesson on the oval. Can you guess what sport we saw?
If you would like to find out what happened next, please ask
your child were we went and what we saw. Some hints for you to help prompt
their story telling:
·
Tall poles in the adventure playground
·
Chickens
·
Our Yr 6 buddy class
When we returned to the classroom and brainstormed our
adventure, we came up with 7 amazing titles that we could use for our recount. We
started with a simple sentence for our opening, then stretched the sentence by
adding more information to give readers a better idea of who, when, where and
what we did.
Today we wrote a simple addition and subtraction story. We
looked at the CUBES strategy that we will be using to help solve math word
problems.
Circle the numbers
Underline the question
Box important words
Evaluate the information
Solve the question
Tomorrow we are going to create our own word problem and I
can’t wait to read them as some of the boys have already given me a hint about
what they may write!
Here is a Youtube song that can help remember the CUBE strategy

What an amazing class of children 2N are. They have
displayed a willingness to have a go, share ideas and have some fun.
Wishing everyone a great week.
